Abstract (EN)

Emotion regulation skills are very important in terms of recognizing, managing and expressing an individual's emotional state. This research aims to examine the levels of self-esteem, psychological resilience and self-compassion as predictors of cognitive and behavioral emotion regulation skills in adult individuals. Of the adult individuals who constitute the study group of the research, 422 are women and 266 are men. 688 adults participated in the research, and the age range of these participants varied between 18 and 60. Data were collected from the participants using the Socio-demographic Information Form, Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (CERQ), Behavioral Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (BERQ), Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, Brief Psychological Resilience Scale and Self-Compassion Scale Short Form. All statistical procedures were carried out in the SPSS 26 data analysis program. Pearson Product Moment Correlation and Regression analyzes were used to determine the direction and strength of the linear relationship between the variables. Regression analyzes show that cognitive and behavioral emotion regulation strategies are related to self-esteem, self-compassion and psychological resilience variables. Detailed results of the relationship between the sub-dimensions of cognitive and behavioral strategies and other variables are discussed within the framework of the literature.
