Abstract (EN)
This research focuses on the effect of irrational beliefs and automatic thoughts on the level of depression in adults. Considering the research subject, it was decided to plan the study in the scanning model. While the population of the study was determined as adults in the 18-55 age group, the sample group consisted of 600 individuals, 300 women and 300 men, who were randomly reached from the population and volunteered to participate in this study. The data collected during the research process were collected with Personal Information Form, Irrational Beliefs Scale, Automatic Thoughts Scale and Beck Depression Inventory. The analysis of the collected data was made using the SPSS-25 statistical program. In these analyzes; independent groups t test, anova analysis, pearson correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were used. At the end of the study, while significant differences were determined in the irrational beliefs of adult individuals depending on age group, marital status and income level, no significant results could be reached according to gender and education level. In addition, significant results were obtained in the automatic thoughts of adult individuals according to gender, age group, education level, marital status and income level. In the depression levels of adult individuals, while significant results were obtained according to gender, age group, education level and marital status, no significant results were obtained according to income level. According to the results obtained within the scope of the main purpose of the research, positive significant relationships were found between the irrational beliefs, automatic thoughts and depression levels of adult individuals. Finally, it was concluded that the model established for the effect of irrational beliefs and automatic thoughts of adult individuals on the level of depression is significant.
