Abstract (EN)

This research was planned to examine the relationship between the chronotype of adult individuals and the individual's nutritional habits, compliance with the Mediterranean diet, sleep quality, and hedonic hunger level, and was carried out with 1130 individuals aged 18-65 who agreed to participate in the study. In the study, the sociodemographic characteristics and nutritional habits of the individuals were questioned, and the Morningness-Eveningness Test, the Mediterranean Diet Adherence Screener, the Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index (PUKI), and the Power of Food Scale (PFS) were applied to the individuals. Statistical analyzes such as frequency, percentage, Pearson product of moments correlation analysis, Linear Regression analysis, t test, One-Way Analysis of Variance, Kruskal Wallis H test, LSD Post Hoc test, Cronbach Alpha were used in the analysis of the data, and these analyzes were performed with the SPSS 22.00 statistical package program. . 81.3% of the individuals are in the intermediate type, 5.1% in the morning chronotype and 13.5% in the evening chronotype. The chi-square value of the differences between adult individuals in terms of chronotypes according to their BMI values was found significant at p0.05). The difference between adult individuals in terms of PUKI scores according to their chronotypes was found to be insignificant (p>0.05). It has been shown that those who skip meals because of wanting to lose weight, those who do not have snacks, those who eat from outside and those who wake up and eat at night vi are more of the evening type (p< 0.05). Differences between the PFS scores of obese individuals compared to those with low weight, normal weight and overweight were found to be higher and significant (p< 0.05). Well-controlled physiological studies using biochemical markers are needed to elucidate the behavioral and biological mechanisms in the nutrition-sleep circadian rhythm-hunger interaction.
