Abstract (EN)

The aim of the study was to examine lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) in adult male individuals, to evaluate the relationship between symptom severity and quality of life, physical activity level and sitting time. 279 male individuals were included in the study. The physical and demographic characteristics of all participants were recorded. LUTS with the International Urinary Incontinence Consultation Questionnaire-Male Lower Urinary System Symptoms, quality of life with the King Health Questionnaire, physical activity levels with the International Physical Activity Questionnaire were assessed. The sitting time was recorded in minutes. The Pearson correlation test was used for the analysis. When the participants were examined as the presence of LUTS and symptoms, it was determined that the complaints of urgency (%40.10), frequency (%55.60), nocturia (%54.10) and incomplete emptying (%36.90) were mostly observed. A positive correlation was found between quality of life and voiding symptoms, storage symptoms, frequency and nocturia (p<0.05). A negative correlation was found between physical activity level and voiding symptoms (r=-0.373), storage symptoms (r=-0.248), frequency (r=-0.182), and nocturia (r=-0.255) (p<0.05). There was a positive correlation between sitting time and voiding symptoms (r=0.412), storage symptoms (r=0.276), frequency (r=0.308), and nocturia (r=0.331) (p<0.05). As a result, it was observed that voiding symptoms, frequency and nocturia were common in adult male individuals. It was found that the severity of LUTS negatively affected quality of life. It was determined that LUTS symptoms decreased as physical activity time increased and sitting time decreased. Evaluating LUTS in adult male individuals in detail in clinics, directing these individuals to the right physical activity programs and informing them about reducing the sitting time can help in the management of LUTS.
