Investigation of procrastination behavior in adults in terms of perfectionism and psychological well-being

Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to examine procrastination behavior in terms of perfectionism and psychological well-being. For this purpose, the research was carried out with the relational survey model, which is one of the quantitative research methods. The study group of the study consisted of 432 adults over the age of 18. "Demographic Information Form", "General Procrastination Tendency Scale (GEES)", "Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale" and "Psychological Well-Being Scale" were used to collect the research data. SPSS 28 program was used in the analysis of the research data. According to the findings, there were weak positive significant relationships between procrastination behavior and perfectionism at total level and its three sub-dimensions. On the contrary, a weak negative significant correlation was found between procrastination behavior and psychological well-being. Similarly, weak negative significant relationships were found between psychological well-being and perfectionism at total level, and its two sub-dimensions. As a result, it was found that as the level of procrastination behavior increased in adults, the level of perfectionism also increased at both total level and sub-dimensions level. On the contrary, while the level of procrastination behavior increased, the level of psychological well-being decreased. Similarly, it was found that as the level of psychological well-being increased perfectionism total score and perfectionism towards oneself and perfectionism towards others sub-dimension scores decreased.
