Examination of orthorexia nervosa tendency and cognitive control and flexibility and desire to be liked in adults

Abstract (EN)

This research was conducted to examine the relationship between orthorexia nervosa tendency, cognitive control and flexibility, and the desire to be liked in adults. In addition, orthorexia nervosa tendency, cognitive control and flexibility, and how the desire to be liked differ according to socio-demographic characteristics were examined. 360 adult individuals participated in the study. Socio-Demographic Information Form, ORTO-11 Scale, Cognitive Control and Flexibility Scale, and Desire to Be Liked Scale were used as data collection tools in the research. Scanning model was used in the research. Independent Sample t-Test, ANOVA and Pearson Correlation were used in the analysis of the data obtained as a result of the research. As a result of the study, a negative and statistically significant relationship was found between the desire to be liked and cognitive control and flexibility and its subscales cognitive control and coping flexibility. No statistically significant relationship was found between orthorexia nervosa and the total score of desire to be liked, cognitive control and flexibility total score, and its subscales cognitive control and coping flexibility.
