Examination of the use and acceptance of video sharing sites within the scope of lifelong learning for adults

Videos can be considered as an important tool in terms of usefulness in individual learning because of their structure. Youtube is one of the most used and preferred social networks among video sharing sites. When these two situations are considered, in context of lifelong learning, it is important to examine the usage and acceptance of the Youtube for adults and understand the factors that affect their intention to use. The purpose of this study is to examine the acceptance and use of Youtube by adults and to determine the factors affecting their intention to use based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology and Technology Acceptance Model. In this study, the data were collected on the internet by a questionnaire which is developed by the researcher. No characteristics such as age, gender, professional experience or branch were taken into consideration except that the occupations of the participants had to be teachers. The study group was consist of 508 teachers. It was determined that 66.7% of the participants were female and 33.3% were male and most of the participants were graduated from an university (89.4%) and has 11-15 years of professional experience (22.6%) between 31-40 ages (48.4%). Explanatory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling has been used for analyses of data. According to the results of the study, Youtube's usage status was explained as 74.20% with "performance expectancy", "behavioral intention", "social influence", "effort expectancy" and "trust".
