Mobbing and a survey related to mobbing wronged teachers

Mobbing can be described as immoral, long term and systematic attitudes which are applied by a person or a group to exclude one or more person from organization. In recent years it has become an interdisciplinary subject that is concentrated on sociologic, psychologic and judicial extents.Like other working fields, mobbing is also encountered in education field. Being exposed to mobbing, not only does the productivity of teachers in working life decrease but also health problems and economic distress in their private life arise. These negativenesses reflect both on the organization that they are member of and their family and their social environment.In this study, it is aimed to determine mobbing behaviour that the teachers who work for secondary state schools in İstanbul are exposed, status of mobbing applier, time and effects of mobbing, reasons perceived by wronged and overcoming methods. For this purpose, a poll is applied to thirty eight mobbing wronged teachers by utilizing snowball sample method.According to the results of the applied poll, it is seen that administrators apply mobbing more than equal status employees and generally young, middle-income women who served the organization for a short period, are aimed at in secondary schools. It is found that mostly psychologic factors cause mobbing. Applying attacks directed to communication are determined as the most mobbing behaviour.
