The comparison of Yildiz porselen's Vevjut products and Wedgwood's Jasperwares products

Wedgwood, an English Porcelain Factory, was established by Josiah Wedgwood in 1759. He is the person who contributed to the ceramic industry with the ceramic bodies that he had invented following a long period of study. Queenware which was initiated to be produced in 1762, Black Basalt in 1768 and Jasper in 1774 were his most significant innovator series. Yıldız Çini Fabrika-i Hümayun was established by Abdul Hamid II in 1891 to meet the need of porcelain staff of the Palace as a result of industrialization of the period. With a hundred years of manufacturing experience, the factory changed a lot of administrations and name during this period. Finally, Yıldız Porselen Company which was affiliated to the National Palaces of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey in 1994 continues its manufacturing in the fields of porcelain and tile. The Vejvut series, a type of the factory's product, has similar properties with the Wedgwood's Jasperware. It has the same body color with the blue Jasperwares but it is different from the latter in term of relief application techniques and the pattern themes. This thesis includes the Wedgwood's Jasper products' and Yıldız Porselen Company's Vejvut products' comparison. In the first part of this thesis which is written in this context, informations about Josiah Wedgwood and establishment of Wedgwood Ceramic Company are given, the products of the company are introduced and detailed information about the Jasper series' products are given. In the second part, beside the informations given about the establishment of the Yıldız Porselen Company, the products that are produced in the factory are introduced. Also the products of Vejvut series are described in detail and the interviews about the topic from the decoration atelier of the factory is included. Finally in the third part the Jasper and Vejvut series' products are compared According to their production and decoration techniques and the applications which are done in the scope of the subject are expressed with the images. Due to the fact that the Vejvut series' products have a high aesthehic criteria although they're not known as much as the other products of the Yıldız Porselen Company and due to the realization of the deficit of these products' in the literature the thesis is written; and it's expected to fulfil the deficiency of this subject in the ceramic literature and contribute to that, also aimed to provide a value in terms of ceramic education.
