Özet (EN)

The minimum wage policy, for people who earn the minimum wage, refers to the least income level. It is expressed as the level of wage required for an individual to live a dignified life. It has also become an important economic and socio-political issue for employers and the state, especially in developing countries like our country and in societies with minimum wage workers. It is important to examine the level and effectiveness of the minimum wage. In this context, in out study, it was aimed to evaluate the suitability of the minimum wage policy. One of the social policy tools that the government tried to provide justice in is in income distribution and the effectiveness in combating poverty. With the literature study carried out, answers were sought to the questions of what the minimum wage should be within the scope of the poverty line, what are the effects of state policies in determining it and whether the applied minimum wage policies prevent the impoverishment of employees. It is seen that political policies are effective in determining the minimum wage. As a result, it has been observed that the minimum wage is at the poverty line for individuals who earn it.
