Discussions of executive nursing transformational leadership applications

This dissertation study has been done as descriptive in order to specify executive nurse's transformational leadership practises. The study has been performed through the participation of 300 nurses in total,who work as 50 executive and 250 observant nurses at Hacettepe University Adults Hospital. Data in the survey have been gathered by using the Form of Introductory Information and the Inventory of Leadership Practises between April, 15-25th 2018. The collected data have been analyzed by means of the Tests of "Shapiro Wilks", "Mann- Whitney U", "Kruskal-Wallis" SPSS 21.0 packaged software. The point averages of the leadership practises of executive nurses are 27,64±2,34 for leading, 27,00±2,26 for creating a common vision, 26,68±2,31 for questioning the process, 27,58±2,27 for encouraging the staff development, 27,70±2,35 for heartening the audience in their achievements and 136,60±10,24. As for observant nurses; 27,33±3,45 to guide, 26,75±3.89 to create a mutual vision, 26,48±4,05 to question the process, 27,34±3,35 to encourage the staff development, 27,04±3,76 to hearten the audience in the celebration of their success and the total leadership practises are 134,94±17.77. There exists no considerable distinction between the assessments of executive and observant nurses (p>0,05). The leadership point averages of executive nurses have been found meaningful actuarially according to their educational background,the duration of working in this institution,the time period of working as head nurse and the participations of leadership training (p<0.05). The leadership point averages of observant nurses have considerably differed pursuant to their working units, the process of working in this institution, working hours together with their executive nurses actuarially (p<0.05).
