School principals' innovation competences and school culture association (Bolu sample)

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine the secondary school principals' innovation competences and school culture association. For this purpose, the teachers, set their opinions about the school culture with innovation ability of school principals, the relationship between school principals' innovation capability and school culture were examined. Population of the research conducted with relational screening model, consists of secondary education school teachers working in the city center of Bolu in 2014-2015 school years. Within the scope of this research population, 528 branch teachers in 31 secondary schools have been in contact. The data is collected by personal information form, Principals Innovation Competence Scale and Organizational Culture Scale. Data of research is solved in SPSS program program and frequency, perrentage, Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal-Wallis and Spearman Rho correlation analysis have been carried out. According to the results of the research, teachers' total perception on principals' innovation competences is at " I agree" level. According to the subscale scores of Principals Innovation Competence Scale, the highest average score is at 'inschool communication' subscale, the lowest awerage scores is at 'in leadership' subscale. The teachers' opinions about school culture is at 'I agree' level. According to the subscale scores of Organizational Culture Scale, the highest average score is at 'task culture' subscale, the lowest awerage scores is at in 'bureaucratic culture' subscale. There is no significant differences between the perception of secondary school teachers on the principals innovation competence and organizational culture according to individual variables of their gender and educational background. There is a significant difference between the perception of them on the level of organizational culture scale and the variable of their age and status. Teachers' view is differed in status at principals innovation competence scale. A variety of relationships which are in a positive way and at medium and high level has emerged between the total and subscales of principals innovation competence scale and organizational culture scale according to the teachers' opinions.
