A research on the effect of executive personality and communication skills on tourist guides turnover intention

Tourism sector is a labor-intensive and manpower-intesive sector and this brings with it many problems. Tourist guides operating in the tourism sector have an important position among the sector workers and the professions where the behaviour of turnover intention which is one of the many problems observed. Personal characterictics and communication skills of managers are among the problems that cause turnover intention. In this direction, the aim of the research is to reveal the effect of manager personality traits and communication skills on tourist guides intention to leave. The data needed were obtained from the tourist guides operating under the Ankara Chamber of Tourist Guides and analyzes were carried out on the data of 222 questionnaires. Statistical package programs used in the analysis of the data. In the research percentage, frequency, arithmetic mean and standard deviation values were used in the analiysis of descriptive data, Correlation analyzes were used in the related measurement test and Regression analyzes were used in the hypothesis tests. As a result of the analyzes, it was determined that while managers positive personality traits have decreased of the tourist guides the intention to leave the job, managers negative personality traits did not have an effects on the intention to leave the job. Managers communication skills's increased while tourist guides have decreased intention to leave the job.
