The effects of leadership characteristics of the executives on the employees? motivation and performance: A study of public and private hospitals

Executives have important roles on managements to reach their targets in nowadays, where huge contentions are happening and technological developments are growing up rapidly. To obtain this, executives should have leadership characteristics and should care on the motivation and performance of the employee. The purpose of this research is to questionaire the existance of motivation and performance effect of the leadership characteristics on the executives.In this thesis, the definitions of leadership, the approachs to leadership, the distincion of leader and manager, classic and modern leadership conceptions are argued while, the definition and importance of motivation, the tools and theories of motivation, the definition and severity of performance, the management of performance and its relation with motivation are explicated, considerating from the employees? significance point of view.Questionnaire method has used in the study. The universe of the research based on 40 public, 26 private as in total 66 hospital?s eployee. For group case model, 340 person was choosed from 7 private and 5 public hospital. SPSS 19.0 program was used for analysis in the study. In the conclusion of the research, it was observed that the leadership characteristics of the executives effects the motivation and performance of the employees. Performing leadership increase enabled the increase of motivation of the employees. The hypothesis was confirmed as there is strong one way correct relationship between leadership of the executives and the employees performing high performance. It was observed that under conditions of the hospitals being public or private, leadership does not differeniate the motivation and performance of the employees. The study claims the hypothesis of the thesis is true. According to the findings it is suggested for the hospital management to take leadership education. Under the conditions of considering the educational level of the employees for the leaders, shall grow up the intercommunication. In case of providing increase for the income of the employees, there will be mosty an increase in motivation and the increase of the performance will be obtained.Key Words: Leadership, motivation, performance
