Özet (EN)

Synchronous generators are the most widely used electrical machines in electrical energy generation. In 2023, the electricity consumption in our country is estimated to reach 385 TWh. This numerical value shows that the studies about the efficiency of the synchronous generators which have a very important place in supplying electrical energy demands will also increasingly continue in the upcoming years. Synchronous machines are not commonly used as motors. They are used only at very high power applications. However, the constraints in the permanent magnet sector have brought a new perspective in terms of using synchronous motors at medium power levels. In this study, the design and analysis stages of synchronous machines, which can be used both as a generator and as a motor and whose designs have not been studied as much as other machines in the literature, are presented step by step. The equations used in the designing of synchronous generator for high and low power applications were obtained, and these equations were converted Matlab m.file code. The results obtained with Matlab were compared with Ansys Maxwell RMxprt outputs and analyzed. Besides, the parameters calculated by RMxprt were transferred to Ansys Maxwell 2D and analysis results were obtained and interpreted for a high power synchronous generator. In addition, both RMxprt and Ansys Maxwell 2D analyzes of a 1.5 kW synchronous machine were examined for both motor and generator operating conditions.
