Abstract (EN)

11 ELECTRIC FIELD ANALYSIS OF HIGH VOLTAGE CABLES (M. Sc. Thesis) Zehra ÇEKMEN GAZI UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY December 2003 ABSTRACT The numeric methods in solving engineering problems, have been widely used in recent years as a result of increased computer usage. The finite elements method is one of the most preferred one in numeric methods especially because of its ease of adaptation to curved fields, speed and correct results. In this study the potential distribution of high voltage cables is analyzed using finite elements method. To implement this examination, a program is developed using MATLAB. Then employing the developed program, the potential distribution of high voltage cable termination and cable splice have been examined and the results are compared.
