Abstract (EN)
Development of Nozzles Possessed High Aeration Efficiency The survivability of life on the earth is dependent on the presence of water. The rapid increase in the world population and industry based contamination have led to pollution of water which is the main component of natural world. The oxygen content in water and therefore, the quality of water gradually reduce due to the increasing of water pollution. The enhancement of water quality is crucial for the sustainability of natural life. Oxygen concentration is one of the prime indicator related to the quality of water. Aeration for water causes increase of oxygen content in water and thus, the quality of water increases. By this process, oxygen is physically supplied to water. Oxygen transfer to water is efficiently performed using hydraulic systems. Hydraulic method is very rapid and effective for oxygen transfer in comparison to natural oxygen transfer. In this study, pressurized water jet which has high level efficiency for aeration of water was studied. In order to achieve the optimum oxygen solubility, various types of nozzles were investigated. Air transfer to water is studied to be enhanced using pressurized water jet. According to this study, air transfer rate increases as the application distance of water jet increases. The optimum nozzle design for enhanced air transfer is achieved when the application distance of water jet becomes four times larger than the nozzle diameter. Moreover, the optimum air diameter is found as 4 mm based on the results. Keywords: Aeration, Water Jet, Water Jet Nozzle, High-Head Flow, Entrainment Rate, Oxygen Transfer.
