Özet (EN)

This study investigates the effectiveness of machine grinding on high-speed train rails. The grinding process was carried out to eliminate surface irregularities, control wear, and optimize the wheel-rail interaction. To assess the accuracy and success of the grinding process, measurements were taken using DQM, RMF, and Wilmec devices. The DQM device was used to determine the cross-sectional profile and existing wear condition of the rail, the RMF device measured the rail surface undulations, and the Wilmec device calculated the amount of metal removed during the grinding process. The measurements indicate that the machine grinding process was largely successful and that significant surface irregularities were eliminated. However, in some areas, more precise adjustments were required, and manual grinding was performed in those regions. Finally, measurements taken with the Railstraight Wave device after the grinding process confirmed that the grinding was successful and that the rail surface closely approached the ideal profile. This study demonstrates that machine grinding is an effective maintenance method for high-speed railways and, when necessary, should be supported by manual grinding.
