Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this research is to help understand the oxidative stress caused by reactive oxygen species that Muay Thai athletes, who live and do exercise at high altitudes, are exposed to and to analyze the anti-oxidative enzyme levels which could be considered as the defensive system. This research will be carried out making use of the general scan method, which is one of those models among quantitative research models. This study is a general screening model study which is one of the screening models carried out with a quantitative approach.(Büyüköztürk, yd 2014) 13 male elite Muay Thai Athletes, who entered the Turkish National Team in the category of young people or took part in Turkish Championships and managed to get one of the first three degrees, who don't have any bad habits or serious illnesses, and who have been doing this sport for at least 4 years were selected. After all the details of the study were explained to the randomly chosen 14 healthy control group, voluntary participation forms were signed reading the Ethical Principles Applied to the Medical Research on Human Subjects. According to the findings of the study, the activity of SOD was higher in the Muay Thai group compared to healthy control groups. (p <0.05) Statistically significant difference was found between the two groups. The GST activity was higher in the Muay Thai group than in the healthy control group. (p <0.05) Statistically significant difference was found between the two groups. XO Activity was found to be low in Muay Thai sport group and healthy control groups (p<0.05) and there were statistically significant differences between the two groups According to the research results, in this thesis content high-altitude's effect on the organism, Muay Thai history and its place in Turkey, reactive oxygen species, oxidative stress and antioxidative enzymes have been mentioned. Our study will shed light on new ideas about antioxidative enzyme levels in athletes working at high altitude. Keywords: GST, Muay Thai, SOD, ROS, High Altitude, Oxidative Stress, XO.
