Abstract (EN)

Radiation is a significant topic that must be understood and investigated in all its aspects. Since the technological devices that emit long wavelength / low energy electromagnetic waves such as television, computer, phone are widely used in various fields such as health, nuclear medicine, nuclear energy, industry, agriculture to raise our quality of life, the radiation and its effects should be taken seriously. It is necessary to provide the necessary information and equipment, to inform the society and employees, and to develop and implement appropriate protection methods. Due to its ionizing effect, when high energy radiation interacts with the substance, it can cause undesirable harmful effects in soft tissue. Radiation accidents should be prevented in advance and necessary precautions should be taken within the framework of the principle of prevention before hazard emerges, which is the basic principle of the science of occupational health and safety. Training of employees to work in high radioactive material transportation, design of transport containers, implementation of national and international standards, taking precautionary measures, protection of society, environment and employees is vital. Suitable transportation methods and procedures for ensuring occupational health and safety are exemplified in this thesis study in the light of the directives of national and international relevant institutions. The study focused on the concept of OHS, radiation, effects of radiation on living things, radiation protection, transportation of radioactive materials, methods and methods of transportation, occupational safety practices in transporting high radioactive materials. Then, risk factors were evaluated by Fault Tree Analysis method and Accident Site Application over a possible accident scenario.
