Abstract (EN)
In contemporary world, conception of tall buildings is gaining importance rapidly. Tall buildings have more disadvantages than buildings with fewer floors in the case of energy consumption. The big proportion of consumed energy is used for heating and cooling. As a result of this consumption, developing saving energy strategies is vital for tall buildings. With these strategies most of the tall buildings in Istanbul are qualified with the environment friendly and green building certificates. In this study, tall buildings in İstanbul are investigated in the case of natural ventilation efficiency. Firstly, the concept of natural ventilation is explained and the methods of providing natural ventilation are mentioned in literature review. Additionally, in this dissertation, the properties of climate and wind regulations for tall buildings in Istanbul are also stated. The relationship between the main component of wind in natural ventilation and tall buildings is examined with using computer analyses for five different tall buildings in İstanbul. In the light of these analyses the conveniences of natural ventilation in these five buildings and location of them are studied in the circumstance of prevailing winds in İstanbul.
