Abstract (EN)

The use of inhibitors is still the most common method used in corrosion prevention studies. However, benefiting from natural plant extracts as inhibitors, which are more economical, safer, and environmentally friendly than currently used chemical inhibitors, has graduallyincreased. In this study, the inhibitory effect of the extract obtained from the seed of the caper plant, which is a natural plant, on corrosion of soft steel was investigated in a 0.5 MNa2SO4 solution. To obtain the experimental data, current potential curves, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), contact angle and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) methods were used depending on different concentrations at different pH. From the results obtained, it was observed that the inhibitor status of caper seed extract was found to be a good inhibitor with a 2-4 pH range. The highest inhibition activity was found to be %77 at pH2.
