Analysing of the appearance of Yunus Emre and his works in the written cultural environment according to the new historicism (Postmodern history) approach

Yunus Emre is one of our Sufi poets who lived between the 13 and 14th centuries, whose influence continues even today. Due to the lack of sufficient historical records about Yunus Emre, the evaluation of what is told among the people, where he lived, the location of his grave, the social-political events that took place during his period, how these events affected Yunus Emre and similar issues with the classical historical approach may lead to incomplete results. In the classical approach to history, objectivity is at the forefront. This is a situation that the postmodern understanding of history opposes and sees as a deficiency. Neo-historicism (postmodern history) asserts that reality in the full sense of the word cannot be known, that certainty and objectivity are not possible, and that they bear the influence of its producer. From this point of view, it is possible to search for the missing points about Yunus Emre in historical documents as well as in literary works. Thus, the sections of the works that are outside the historical point of view give complementary ideas in defining Yunus Emre. The literary works that have appeared in the early written litterature present aspects that are not included in the historical records thatare aboutYunus Emre and his period. In this context, how Yunus Emre's life, works, understanding and social life in the century he lived in are reflected in today's literature, the narratives and information formed around Yunus Emre in literary pieces, and how the image of Yunus Emre is used are suitable to be evaluated with the new historicism theory and intertextuality approach. The method of the study was determined as skimming through the written sources with this theory and approach and supporting them with documents. With the works discussed in the study, it is revealed what kind of Yunus Emre is presented today. The reflection of Yunus Emre in written culture as a result of oral culture's impact is shaped in terms of the effort to create a common theme and ideal type. From this starting point, the evaluation of issues such as what kind of change/transformation takes place in social life, how and why a name that lived centuries ago is included in the modern human mind, which partnerships are preserved, what additions and inferences are made, and with which functions it is re-used are the points emphasized in the study. Thus, the value, importance and diversity of the knowledge transmitted around Yunus Emre from oral culture to written culture will be revealed.
