Developing digital learning content for families in the process of learning and using Turkish for bilingual Turkish children living abroad

Bilingual education is a concept that expresses the teaching of academic content in two languages, the mother tongue and the second language. Bilingual education enables students to develop their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in a second language, as well as to acquire fluency in their first language and use it effectively in communication. While Turks living in Germany use their mother tongue Turkish at home, they can also use German effectively in their daily lives. They can communicate effectively by switching between two languages. Turkish is mostly taught at home by parents. This study aims to develop digital learning content for families in the process of learning and using Turkish by bilingual Turkish children living abroad. While determining the participants, bilingual Turkish children living in Germany were considered within the limitations. Within the limitations of the study, 30 children and their families were studied. The case study method was chosen in order to teach Turkish to the children of the families of Turkish children living in Germany and to understand the Turkish learning processes of the children in depth. A semi-structured interview form was used as a data collection technique. The data of this study were analyzed using the content analysis technique. The attitudes of the participants and families towards learning Turkish were examined one by one, and student and family roles were determined according to the data obtained. According to these roles, digital learning content was developed and families were guided in teaching Turkish.
