Abstract (EN)

Within the scope of this study, the vocabulary of Yusuf Atılgan's first novel and last novel will be examined in all aspects and to be able to compare the two novels, considering Yusuf Atılgan's academic life and novelist personality, it is aimed to determine what kind of changes are in the written language with current vocabulary techniques. In the introduction part, information about the life and works of the author is given, and the definition of the vocabulary that constitutes the infrastructure of the subject is mentioned. In the second part of the thesis, information is given about foreign words, idioms, proverbs, stereotypes, reduplications, verbs and nouns that constituent the vocabulary of the works. In the last part, author's first and last novels were examined within the framework of the mentioned vocabulary elements and a comparison of the vocabulary between the two works was made. Finally, the identified vocabulary items were concretized with graphics. Since Canistan is Yusuf Atılgan's last and "cannot be unfinished novel" and its subject is reflected from a traditional point of view, it is thought to dominate Aylak Adam's vocabulary to Canistan's. Because Aylak Adam, the subject of this novel was not processed in the years it was published, because of the originality of its narration and also because Atılgan's inclination to the inner world of C, the main character of the novel, is too good to be found, this study was started with the belief that it would be more dominant than Canistan in terms of vocabulary as well as in terms of its subject. However, as a result, it was observed that Canistan has a richer vocabulary than Aylak Adam in some aspects.
