The optimization with Taguchi methods of wear behavior of ferritic stainles stell in surface

In thıs study, analysis and optimization examined of abrasive wear behavior of AISI 430 stainless steel surface alloying with B4C- SiC-FeCrC powders using plasma transfered arc (PTA) weld surfacing process. The coating layer was analysed using optical microscope (OM), scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffractogram (XRD) and X-ray energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS). As a result of optical microscope and microstructure analyses, it was determined that the coating layer and the sub-layer were connected to each other metallurgical and there were austenite (), Fe-Cr, Fe23(C)6, and Cr7C3 phase and carbides the structure. Optimization of process parameters is the key step in the Taguchi Method to achieve high quality without increasing cost. The Taguchi method uses the orthogonal arrays to maximize the effect of controllable parameters and to minimize the effect of uncontrollable process parameters. The abrasive wear behavior of AISI 430 substrate material whose surface was coated with different combination alloys and the coating layer were investigated under 16-60-220 grid weared, 6-10-16 N load and at 10-20-30 meter distances. The effect of wear loss on the lowest wear behavior, which is a most important criterion in determining the wear behavior, was optimized with the lowest-the best control characteristics of the Taguchi method and the results were analyzed with graphical methods.
