Communication problems between generation Z and their parents

In this study, the communication levels of the Z generation, which differs from other generations, with their parents were tried to be determined under various headings. For this purpose, data were obtained by using quantitative and qualitative research methods together. With the parents of Generation Z; A questionnaire, which is a quantitative research method, was applied to 267 students studying at Adıyaman University Kahta Vocational School in order to determine the communication levels consisting of family relations, school and friends, and individual freedoms. In addition, a total of 14 students, seven female and seven male, from the same sample group were interviewed using semi-structured interview technique, and it was tried to determine the communication problems of Generation Z with their parents. SPSS 22 package program was used in the analysis of the quantitative data obtained, and the descriptive analysis method was used in the analysis of the qualitative data. As a result of the study, it was determined that the communication levels of the Z generation with their parents were strong. The communication levels of the Z generation individuals included in the study with their parents differ according to gender. It is seen that the communication level of women with their parents is higher than that of men. In addition, it was determined that the communication levels of parents who do not have a regular income with their children are lower than those of parents with a regular income with their children. In the study, as a result of the descriptive analysis carried out to determine the communication problems of the Z generation with their parents and to detail the research, it was determined that the Z generation had the most problems with their parents in terms of school success and comparing this success with others and adherence to traditions.
