Generation Z perspective on literature as an art

Technological developments occupy a large place in a rapidly digitizing world. Great changes have occured in human life at an unprecented speed .The Z generation is named for individuals born in the digital age.The groups of people who were born in the same period and shared a common destiny by being influenced by the economic,social and political events experienced during the period they were born are called generations. In this study,it is aimed to measure the attitudes of the Z generation, who are impatient, care about speed in all areas of life towards literature, the oldest art of human history.Literature has been the closest companion of man and the indispensable witness of the transformation of man and society since the beginning of his existence. In this context, it is important to reveal the attitudes of the new generation towards the art of literature. The sample of the research consists 477 students from 11th and 12th grades of secondary education institutions selected by random method in Ümraniye District of Istanbul.The perspective of the Z Generation on Literature which was developed by the researcher as a data collection tool, the Attitude Scale for Generation Z's Perspective on Literature (ZKEBYTÖ) which was used. As a result of the research, there are significant differences in the attitudes of Generation Z towards literature,their gender ,the type of school they attend.In the analysis of social media and writing tendencies according to gender,no significant differences were found.
