Investigation of the relationship between time management skills and proposal behavior: Example of Elaziğ healthcare organizations

Time, an important part of our lives, is an abstract and relative concept that is very difficult to define. For this reason, no definite definition has been made about time, and everyone has made different definitions. Time is a concept in which events take place as past, present and future, passing out of people's control. The effects of time on human beings are divided into four as physical, psychological, philosophical and biological. All people working in any job have to use their time effectively and efficiently. Here, this obligation has caused the "Time Management" concept to be born. The main purpose of time management is to plan the jobs requested from the individual within the given time. Failure to manage time carefully causes many problems. One of these is that it prepares the ground for the emergence of procrastination behavior. Postponement, on the other hand, is to leave a task that needs to be done without a reasonable or valid reason. Individuals may show procrastination behavior in certain times or situations when they need to do things. Considering the information given above, the purpose of this study is to find and provide scientific evidence for the question "What is the Relationship Between Time Management Skills and Procrastination?". Employees of public hospitals in Elazig city center constitute the universe of this study. There are 4 public hospitals in Elazig city center and there are 3712 healthcare workers in these hospitals. The data of the study were collected from healthcare professionals using the survey method between February and April 2020. "Time management" and "procrastination behavior" scales, which are the scales of the research, were graded with the 5-point Likert system. According to the findings obtained from the study, there is a negative effect of approximately 33% between time management and procrastination behavior (R = -0.330).
