An investigation of the effect of intelligence games education on the development of students' basic skill levels

The aim of this study is to examine the effect of intelligence games education on the basic skill levels of 4th grade primary school students. The research was conducted using a mixed-method approach, combining both quantitative and qualitative data. In the quantitative dimension, a quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test control groups was employed. The study group consisted of 4th grade students from a public primary school. At the beginning and end of the implementation process, the "Basic Skills Scale" was administered to all participants. Students in the experimental group received intelligence games training for eight weeks, while the control group received no intervention. The quantitative data were analyzed using an independent samples t-test via the JASP software. The results revealed that the post-test scores of the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group. Notably, significant improvements were observed in sub-dimensions such as measurement, observation, inference, and communication skills. In the qualitative dimension, observations were conducted by both the instructor and the researcher throughout the process. Observation forms completed by the instructor were analyzed using descriptive analysis. The qualitative findings supported the quantitative results, indicating positive developments in students' attention, participation, and problem- solving skills. Based on the findings, it was concluded that intelligence games education is an effective method for enhancing students' basic skills at the primary school level.
