Abstract (EN)

The actions done by human beings is one of the first discussed topics in the history of Islamic thought. According to some Muslim scholars, Allah has given free will to perform or quit actions. Therefore, people are free and can create their own actions. Unless having that freedom, it does not have any meaning to give punishments or rewards for the actions in terms of divine justice. It will certainly be an oppression if Allah forces people to perform actions and punishes them due to that. The Muslim scholars, who hold this view, accepts ayahs supporting their views while interpreting the ayahs objecting their views. According to another group representing the opposite view, people are not free in their actions. They do not have a will or power to perform or not perform their actions since they do not have a free will. Thus, they cannot perform their actions. Allah creates people's actions and they are obliged in their actions. If people have their own free will and create their own actions, in this case Allah will be inactive and it will have the meaning for disregarding the control of Allah, and that will not be acceptable for the concept of Allah who is mighty and has infinite power. In the same way, the people holding this view accepts ayahs supporting their own ideas while interpreting ayahs which have been accepted as proofs by their opponents. The third group has tried to find the middle way for the aforementioned groups. According to them, it is Allah who creates people's actions and humon beings only attain their actions. They are responsible for their actions as a result of this attainment. Even though it is not the humon beings who have created their actions, it is their free will andvii their choice to perform actions that make them responsible for them. The issue of humon beings actions in Al-Kashshaf tafseer and al-minhaj fi Usulü'd din by Zamahshari, who can be put in the first group mentioned above, has been studied and analyzed in this study.
