The effects of enrichment methods on pyrolysis product yields obtained from different lignites

It is essential for our country to investigate the ways of evaluating our lignites as technological products rather than their widely known usage areas. In the scope of the present thesis; first of all, the enrichment of lignites found in the regions of Malatya-Arguvan, Sivas-Kangal and Kahramanmaras-Elbistan was carried out by sink-float, shaking table, Reichert spiral, Falcon concentrator and flotation methods. It was found that Reichert spiral method is the most successful one among the others in terms of both ash and sulfur removal. It has been found out that the enrichment methods have a quite positive effect on pyrolysis and liquefaction product yield and quality of solid product. However, it is obvious that the exploring the economical dimension of this theoretically possible work is a necessity. It has been concluded that the enrichment of the three lignites studied in the scope of the present thesis is necessary and after that the studies about their usage areas should be done.
