Abstract (EN)
In this study, the effects of heterogeneous photo-Fenton process, one of the advanced oxidation processes, on the treatment of organic dyestuff solutions were investigated. In the experimental study conducted within the scope of the thesis, zeolite rock minerals of Manisa / Gördes region were cut into plates with a size of approximately 17mm × 17mm × 5mm. The plates were modified by loading Fe+ 3 in FeCl3 solutions prepared by dissolving in acetone according to FeCl3 / zeolite = 10/1 ratio and transformed into heterogeneous catalyst. Subsequently, in the Pyrex column photoreactor system, which contains 6 lamps that emit UVA rays, the plates were tested as photocatalysts for color removal in solutions containing Reactive Red 180 (RR-180) dyestuff. RR-180 dye solution concentrations were examined by measuring photometric absorbance data and color removal efficiencies were determined. In addition, color removal efficiencies were compared between Basic Yellow and Acid Red 88 dyes which are commonly used in textile dyeing sector. The optimum temperature range determined in the previous color removal studies was studied in the range of 35-40 oC. It has been observed that the efficiency increases as the pH of the dye solution decreases in the medium, but it is decided that the study proceeds to the solution's own natural pH since the role of pH decreases due to the increase of reaction time. Although the increase in H2O2 yields high efficiency in a short time, it is decided that 15mmol H2O2 should be used in each study when it is evaluated in terms of cost and long removal time. The reuse efficiency of the modified zeolite rock plates by Fe+3 loading was investigated. Re-use of zeolite plates without Fe+3 loading decreases the color removal efficiency. However, it was observed that the color removal efficiency increased when Fe+3 was loaded again.
