Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this research is; to study how the aqueous and alcoholic solutions of pigment obtained by turmeric plant affect on the three different types of fabrics in terms of dyeing properties, to determine light, rubbing and the degree of washing fastness and to analyze the usability of today's textile industry.Research universe population composes of plants, which grow in nature and have colorant properties, and enterprises which use plants as dyeing material. Turmeric plant which is capable of dyeing and Kale Naturel, Berteks enterprises and Istanbul University Textile-Dye laboratories as enterprise-laboratory are selected as sample. Interview form was applied to the 13 employees of the enterprise in the detection process during the pigment-making of the turmeric plant. Berteks textile enterprise in Bursa was used to determine the dyeing properties of pigment which was acquired by Kale Naturel enterprise and the dyeing and fastness measurements are carried out by researchers in the Istanbul University Textile-Dye laboratories.Dyeing recipes with water and alcohol solutions were prepared in order to use the pigment obtained from the roots of the turmeric plant for the process of dyeing of determined fabrics. According to prepared dyeing recipes, plain and bezayağı-weave fabrics, which were woven from wool, cotton and silk, were painted. 18 experiments were carried out with using the pore water and alcohol extracts with alum, the clay water with and without mordant for dyeing process. The light, rubbing and washing fastness were measured and evaluated after dyeing. Color measurement device ``Colorimeter?? was used to evaluate the color tones of the fabrics which were dyed by using the water and alcoholic solutions of turmeric pigment and two different mordant and the color difference (?E) values were determined objectively. It is determined that the color difference value of wool, cotton and silk fabrics which are dyed with turmeric pigment, gave better results for fabrics obtained by wool fiber with water and alcohol dyeing. At the end of the dyeing process, the measured light, robbing and washing fastness for sample fabrics dyed with alcoholic solutions were desired level and applicable. According to these results, it is possible to say that dyeing processes of fabrics obtained by wool, cotton and silk fibers with using alcoholic solution made by turmeric pigment are applicable.Key Words: Turmeric Pigment, Natural Dyeing, Light Fastness, Robbing Fastness, Washing Fastness
