Convivium tableware in the light of the Terra Sigillatas of the Zeugma House of Mousas

The ancient city of Zeugma is located on the banks of the Euphrates, within the borders of Belkıs Village in Nizip District of Gaziantep. The material that constitutes the subject of the thesis is the ceramics belonging to the terra sigillata group, which were found during the excavations carried out in 2014 in the House of Mousas located in the eastern residential sector of Zeugma. Terra Sigillatas are very important in terms of finding a place in the repertoire of table-top use pots in the Roman Republic/Empire Period conviviums. Terra Sigillatas, which are included in the convivium tradition at the emperor's tables, have been the tableware preferred by the Romans with high welfare levels as an indicator of wealth and status at banquet tables. The ceramics presented in the thesis; technical information, drawings and photographs were cataloged in parallel with the samples from the close geography related to Zeugma, and evaluated within the DSA group in the light of the evaluations are dated between the 1st century BC and the 2nd century AD. With current data, no kiln or workshop producing ceramics has yet been identified in the ancient city of Zeugma. However, the discovery of samples belonging to the production centers in the surrounding cities proves the existence of a communication network or trade. The Western Sigillatas, which are among the ceramics included in the thesis, are another proof of this trade. The forms encountered in the ceramics that are the subject of the study and their subtypes are shown with typological and chronological determinations and their ratios with comparative statistics. The density of terra sigillatas draws attention among the materials that constitute Zeugma's tableware sets. This density is examined and presented with comments.
