Abstract (EN)
This study examines the place of Zayd b. Sâbit whose name is identified with the Holy Quran in hadith narration. While the first section focuses, in general terms, on his life about fifty-six years which cannot be considered as too long, but efficient and does not go into details, the second one studies the sources, narrators and soundness of the narratives transmitted from him. It is obvious that Zayd b. Sâbit has a narrative in almost every subject but he has more narratives related to the 'ibâdât (worships), muâmalât (transactions) and ahkâm (provisions). Zayd b. Sâbit was the Prophet's shadow when he was alive and he stayed in Madinah in the period of the four caliphs too and performed several administrative and educational tasks. These tasks were a) writing down the Quranic revelation and interpreting in diplomatic relations in the period of the Prophet and b) counting and distributing the prize both in the periods of the prophet and the four caliphs and c) administration of bayt al-mâl (treasury of the state) and clericship in the period of the latter. This study examines the hadith narratives of Zayd b. Sâbit, prominent in the sciences of Fiqh, Qirâat, Tafsir and Farâid under a broad range of twenty eight headings which are the basic subjects of Fiqh such as knowledge, cleanliness, prayer, mosques and fasting as well as the subjects related to asceticism and morals. It is determined that 28 of the 103 narratives in this study are authentic, 18 of them are good, 40 are weak, 15 are very weak and 2 were fabricated according to hadith critics. This study, conducted only for the purpose of examining the marfu' narratives, did not address all the narrations that were transmitted from him. Therefore, it examines only the marfu' narratives by Zayd b. Sâbit and the mawqûf narratives or his fatwas were not included because it would increase the volume of the study.
