Investigation of the concept of wellbeing in the interiors of Zeyrek Academy

In this thesis, the effect of well-being of the interior architecture of Zeyrek Academy, a cultural heritage building, is discussed. The concept of well-being has an important role in human psychology, architecture and interior architecture of cultural spaces. Well-being is a concept in which a person's mental and spiritual health should be considered together with his physical health. The welfare level of the place is a feature that should be taken into consideration. The historical development, sociocultural and architectural structure of the Zeyrek district, the historical and spatial analysis of the Zeyrek Academy and its restoration process are discussed. When the interiors of Zeyrek Academy are analyzed in the context of well-being and cultural heritage structure, it is observed that the relationship between texture and spatial perception creates a strong effect, and that this effect reinforces the connection between the psychological needs of human beings and their physical needs. These examinations were filtered through the important historical processes that Zeyrek Academy and the neighborhood in which it is located, and strengthened with the questionnaire form. The data obtained as a result of the survey form filled out by thirty four people in total, visitors, students and employees of Zeyrek Academy, provide important information about subjective well-being. This data was evaluated together with the aspects that a good place should have. These evaluations have been schematized, and suggestions on how Zeyrek Academy can become better as a cultural heritage structure have also been evaluated. It is seen that the psychological effects of the concept of well-being have a strong relationship with the concept of space. In this context, it is concluded that the cultural heritage structure Zeyrek Academy is very effective in terms of the level of its historical interior features, even though modern equipment additions have been included.
