Abstract (EN)
The main purpose of this research; Determining the impact of the mind mapping application on the comprehension, success, compass, and permanence of Turkish reading texts the Turkish lessons of fifth grade primary school pupils. The field of study in this research has been brought into existence with the fifth grade pupils of the private primary school, Malatya Özel Battalgazi Bilim İlköğretim Okulu in the educational year 2009-2010.The research was materialized with the experimental method. The ?pretest- posttest design? model was materialized in the experimental method, and the success, compass, and the reading comprehension skills in Turkish lessons of the experimental group and the control group were compared. The total number of pupils of the experimental and control group partaking in the research is 50. 25 25 pupils bring the control group of the research into existence (50%), the other pupils bring the control group of the research into existence (50%). The levels of the pupils in reading, comprehension skills, and permanence in education issues which were determined by the researcher, were evaluated by setting summaries and exams.First, the equality of the education levels of the partaking pupils were revealed with a placement test before the research began. It was statistically approved that the educational level of the participating pupils were equal before the research began (p>0,05).After this phase the impact of mind mapping on comprehension skills was materialized with six different texts, and was determined after comprehension exams which were repeated six times, these were analyzed with related methods, the results were statistically verified (p<0,05).The impact of mind mapping on recall skills was also measured by the researcher with a recall exam, and they were analyzed with the same related methods, the results were statistically verified (p<0,05).It was aimed to reach the same results for the impact of mind mapping on the success of the pupil with the evaluation of the achievement test, which was obtained with the arithmetic average of the six comprehension tests and recall tests. Before applying the achievement test which was obtained with the method in concern, an effort was made for reaching the required results by comparing the results of the placement test which took place before the research started. Finally, the impact of mind mapping on the permanence of the learning ability of the pupil was determined, after the results of the recall test and the placement tests were compared. The results were statistically made academic.Further, the Croanboach Alfa coefficient was deternied as 0,84 as a result of the creditableness analysis which was materialized with the SPSS 17 packaged software, for measuring the creditability of the achievement test results. This value was accepted as satisfactory for the creditability of the test. The results which were obtained are in short like this:?It has shown that education with mind mapping has more impact on the success of the pupil, than the traditional method? It has proven that that education with mind mapping has more impact on the recall level of the pupil when compared with the traditional method.?It?s observed that there is an obvious increase with the mind mapping method, in the success levels of the pupils? It?s also evidenced with the results which were obtained that, the mind mapping method has a permanent impact in learning. These points can be recommended in accordance with the results obtained at the end of the research:?The mind mapping method has to be applied for taking notes during lessons at primary schools, instead of the traditional note taking facilities.?Teachers and prospective teachers have to be informed about meaningful learning and meaningful learning devices.?The relation between the learning styles and meaningful learning devices of pupils have to be researched. Keywords: Turkish lesson, mind apping method, comprehension skill.
