Get mother's opinion about mental handicapped adolescents sexual education

In this research, sexual educations of mentally handicapped adolescents mothers opinions would like to be reflected. This study was designed as a qualitative research. The semi-structured interview technique was used. Phenomenology pattern is used.Question that have been determined before asked to mothers. Data has been evaluated with descriptive analysis technique. 20 volunteer mother were picked whose children have been diagnosed mentally handicapped and educated in rehab center. All children were living in Istanbul / Sultangazi region in 2014-2015. Mothers opinions in sexual education needs of mentally handicapped adolescents, sexual differentiation of mentally handicapped adolescents, also mothers' demographic data(age, education level, financial situation, marital status, profession) influence have been evalauted. In results, mothers gave children the education at biologically proper age. Mentally handicapped children get better education with recurrence, compare to not handicapped ones from their mothers. Majority of mothers gave proper education by adding their per-sonal experience. It has been determined that mothers are getting nervous and do not know what to do during encounter with sexual context in broadcasts. Also support is being taken by professionals if needed is determined. When evaluating tke kids reflections their sexual life over their social life, it has been seen that they frequently talk about their desire of marrying, hugging opposite sex, looking their body on mirror, talking about the person who they fell in love to. Some of the kids do not make this behaviors at all. During their educations, it has been seen that masturbating, watching porn movies at boys and playing with nipples at girls. Body cleaning, using hygenic peds, shaving body hair etc. have been thought by parents. If not applied after or during education, mothers assistance was seen.
