Abstract (EN)
This study analyzes the role of multidimensional perceived social support on the prediction of caregiving burden by parents of children with intellectual physi̇cal disability. Descriptive and relational survey models were preferred as research methods to test whether the caregiving burden of parents of children with intellectual physi̇cal disability differ depending on multidemensional perceived social support. While the independent variables of the study are trait anxiety and multidemensional perceived social support; the dependent variables are the caregiving burden of parents of children with intellectual physi̇cal disability and sociodemographic variables. The data were collected from İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi Engelliler Müdürlüğü. The study was conducted on 101 parents in total (89 mothers 12 fathers) whose age range is 26-75 and average age is 47. The data of the study were collected via Personal Information Form, Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support, Trait-State Anxiety Scale and Caregiving Burden Scale. During the analysis process of acquired data SEM, Correlation Analysis, Independent-Samples T-Test were applied in terms of deductive statistics. The findings of the analysis can be summed up as following: It is found out that the caregiving burden of parents of children with intellectual physi̇cal disability differs in a reasonable way depending on whether having only one disabled child or not, education while it does not differ depending on gender, martial status, type of the disability, social security. It is found out that the trait anxiety of parents of children with intellectual physi̇cal disability differs in a reasonable way depending on gender, type of the disability while it does not differ depending on martial status, whether having only one disabled child or not, social security, education. It is found out that the perceived multidimensional social support of parents of children with intellectual physi̇cal disability differs in a reasonable way depending on whether having only one disabled child or not, education, type of the disability while it does not differ depending on gender, martial status, social security.
