Abstract (EN)

Scheme to recorder population extremely was given significance and population records were created in Ottoman period. It has been document with writing in every field in agriculture in trade in diplomacy in art from foundations to state organization. Firstly, law(1831) has declared during the reign of Sultan II. Mahmud and with this law, fort he purpose of recruitment and tax collection only census was carried out that a male census and population records were kept. These counts and records have been updated and regenerated in certain periods. One of the provinces where the census was carried out is Sivas province during the reign of Sultan II. Mahmud. In this thesis The Yörükan-ı Müslim population in Zile accident district of Sivas and their settlements were examined according to the counts conducted between 1259-1266 Hijri years. Population registers examined were obtained from the Presidency of the State Archives. With this study, a small part of the history of the Zile nomads has been tried to bring to light. Zile, which is an accident at a distance of 70 km from the city center, is under the rule of Tokat and Niksar in 1398 during the period of Yıldırım Beyazıd. Zile was included in the Greek province established in 1413 along with other conquered cities. Zile, which was seen as a sub-district between 1455 and 1519, gained the status of an accident after 1520 and has maintained this feature until today.
