Prepositions in Ziya Pasha's History of Andalusia

Abstract (EN)

This study was written in order to determine the use of prepositions, which have no meaning on their own in Turkish, which are evaluated as function words, which add various meaning relations to sentences, words or word groups or which connect these elements with meaning relations, in Ziyâ Pasha's History of Andalusia. The study is analyzed under four sections: Introduction, Section One, Second Sectoin and Conclusion. In the introduction section, the subject, purpose and method of the study are explained and the scope and limitations are specified. The information about the Tanzimat Period, Ziyâ Pasha's life and his literary personality, his works, and his language is given. The definition, classification and detailed information about the preposition by researchers are also given in this section. In the second section, the classified prepositions, the usage status in the work Andalusian History, the meanings it gives depending on the usage in the sentence are revealed with the examples given from the work. The origin information of the prepositions is given under the relevant section together with the meaning of the word. In the conclusion, the language origin of the prepositions is given with numerical data and shown in a table, and the ratio of prepositions of Arabic and Persian origin versus prepositions of Turkish origin is determined.
