Abstract (EN)

Health personnel who encounter deaths frequently need to understand their own feelings about death, be able to talk to others, and be aware of the bio- psychosocial and cultural needs of the dying patient and his / her relatives. This study was carried out to determine the factors affecting the anxiety levels of death and death related depression of doctors and nurses working in Zonguldak Atatürk State Hospital. This research was carried out in Zonguldak Atatürk State Hospital between April and September 2016. The sample of the study consisted of 280 physicians including 116 doctors and 164 nurses who accepted to participate in the study. In this study, descriptive characteristics, Templer Death Anxiety Scale, Templer Death Depression Scale questionnaire prepared in accordance with the literature and consists of a total of 49 questions were used containing the substance. Statistical analyzes were performed with Statistical Package for the Social Sciences 16.0 software on computer. The evaluation of the data is given with percentage calculations. Having shown that the distribution is normal with Kolmogrov Smirnov test, t-test and ANOVA test were used. In this study, the most important determinant of being death anxiety and death related depression was determined as female, single, nurse and not having children. In this study, even encountering serious danger of death doesn't contribute to death anxiety and depression related to death. In this study, for anxiety and depression, depersonalization death against death while not affecting working in the surgical field between occupational groups to cause less death anxiety.
