Abstract (EN)
Objective: The objective of this study is to assess the information level of family physicians residents and intern doctors who work at Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Hospital and increase their awareness. Materials & Methods: The study is an observational survey and was conducted online. The study was carried out between the dates 31.05.2023- 31.12.2023. The surveys were done by the family physicians residents and intern doctors who work at Zongundak Bülent Ecevit University Hospital. Fourty five residents in family physicians and fourty five intern doctors attended to the study. While preparing the survey questions, the literature was reviewed and previous thesis studies on this subject were taken into account. A questionnaire consisting of the answers 'True', 'False' and 'I have no idea' has been presented to the residents about thyroid diseases. Every true answer was accepted as 1 point and other answers were counted as 0 point. The data was analysed on SPSS 27.0 software and p significance value was accepted as <0,05. Results: Half of the 90 doctors participating in the study (n=45) were full-time residents in family physicians and half (n=45) were intern doctors. While %10 (n=9) of our doctors considered their information level as sufficient in diagnosing and treating thyroid diseases, %67,8 (n=61) considered themselves inadequate. The average total information score of doctors who were full-time residents in family physicians, those who had an internal medicine rotation/internship and those who considered themselves competent was found to be statistically high. Conclusions: In our study, the average score was calculated as 29,13±6,00 out of 42. Even tough it is a better rate compared to foraign studies, more competent information level is expected among family physicians who are at the front stage on diagnosis and treatment of thyroid diseases.
