Abstract (EN)
This study has been carried out in Hatay, which is one of the provinces with the highest population of Syrians who migrated to Turkey and dispersed to many parts of Turkey after the internal turmoil in Syria. Hatay, in terms of its geographical location, is the southernmost province of Turkey and among the provinces closest to Syria as a border. In addition to this geographical proximity, it is a region where the Syrian population is more crowded than other provinces due to its historical, cultural, neighborhood and kinship ties with Syria. The purpose of this thesis is to examine the educational activities of Syrian students studying in Hatay at primary and secondary school level, primarily teaching Turkish as a foreign language and social cohesion studies of Syrian students who migrated from their countries and settled in Hatay. The documents related to the subject are tried to be analyzed based on the documents and data obtained from the national and international projects carried out in the field. In addition to this, the aim of this study is to determine the possible difficulties experienced by Syrian students studying in Turkey and the difficulties experienced by teachers working in the schools where these students are educated, based on the opinions of the teachers and to develop solutions. For this purpose, qualitative research method has been used in the field, and data have been obtained by observation, interview and document analysis techniques. In addition, the research has been designed according to due diligence patterns. As a result, it has been concluded that one of the education policies implemented for Syrian students in Turkey is that Syrian students are included in the Turkish education system; Considering Hatay in particular, it is applied exactly; Most of the teachers in schools with Syrian students has received in-service training on the subject; the trainings received should be more practical; Syrian students have faced with some difficulties, especially in learning Turkish; teachers use visual materials with different methods and techniques in their lessons and this situation has a positive effect.
