Abstract (EN)

This research was conducted to examine the effects of 4-week plyometric training on strength, speed, balance and agility parameters in male tennis players. Twenty male tennis players from the Tennis Fencing Mountaineering Sports Club participated in the research. Pre- and post-tests were done by the same team in the same place, and the athletes participating in the study were divided into two groups, 10 in the study and 10 in the control group. Within the scope of the tests, height and weight measurements, 20 meters speed performance test, T-test, pro-agility agility test, standing long jump, push-ups, sit-ups, flamingo balance test and sit-reach test were performed. Plyometric exercise training was given to the study group for 4 weeks (6 days/week). Statistical analysis of the research was done with SPSS 22.0 package program. Kurtosis-Skewness analysis for the normality distribution of the data, Descriptive analysis for descriptive statistics, paired paired-samples t-test for in-group and inter-group comparisons, and independent-samples t-test for two independent samples were used. Statistical significance level was determined as p<0.05. According to the statistical analysis results, a significant improvement was observed in the 20 meters speed, T-test, pro-agility, standing long jump, push-ups, shuttle flamingo and sit-reach tests of the athletes in the study group p<(0.01). There was no significant difference in the control group in the 20 meters speed, T-test, pro-agility, push-ups, shuttle flamingo balance test and sit-reach tests (p>0.05). A significant difference was found in the standing long jump test in the control group p<(0.05), but when the improvement between the groups was compared, it was observed that the improvement in the study group improved significantly p<(0.05). As a result of the research, it is thought that plyometric training in addition to tennis training will contribute to the development of strength, speed, agility and balance of 12-14 year old tennis players.
