Abstract (EN)

Interlinear Qur'an Translations are created by placing one-to-one Turkish equivalents beneath the Arabic lines of the Qur'an. This study focuses on an interlinear Qur'an translation that was prepared using this method. The work in question, which is a complete translation, was written in Rabi'al-Thani of the year 968 AH (1561 CE) in Eğriboz by Muhammed, son of Yusuf. No scholarly research has previously been conducted on this manuscript. Therefore, it was decided that a detailed study of the manuscript should be undertaken. The present study consists of the following sections: Introduction, Analysis, Transcribed Text, Glossary and Evaluation, Conclusion and Suggestions. In the Introduction, the history of Qur'anic translation and the earliest Turkish Qur'an translations are discussed. Then, interlinear Qur'an manuscripts identified throughout the historical periods of the Turkish language are listed. Special attention is given to translations written in Old Oghuz Turkish, and the identified manuscripts are briefly introduced under the headings "Published Translations" and "Unpublished Translations. "In the Analysis section, previous classification efforts regarding interlinear Qur'an translations and scholars' views are presented, along with a new classification developed by the author that had not been attempted before. This section also offers a detailed introduction to the manuscript at the center of the study, evaluates its notable phonetic, morphological, and lexical features, and examines its relationship with other Qur'an translations. In the Transcribed Text section, the Turkish translation is presented in a transcriptional format. The Glossary section provides all words found in the text, along with their meanings and the number of times each word appears in each line. In the Evaluation, Conclusion, and Suggestions section, the findings obtained from the analysis of the work are presented. The main objectives of this study are both to contribute to the classification of interlinear Qur'an translations written in Old Oghuz Turkish and to demonstrate the linguistic changes and developments reflected in the Qur'an's vocabulary, thereby revealing the lexicon of the period.
