Abstract (EN)

The years between 1917 and 1932 are cons?dered to be a crucial per?od of time in Iraq?s contemporary history because after world war, Iraq parted from the Ottoman Empire, it was occupied be English military forces, governed as a mandate and so went into a new period of time.After twelve- year time period under the mandatary government, Iraq was accepted into the League of Mations as an official member in 1932. D uring the early years of English occupation, Iraq was governd by a militray government. Furthermore, the Engilsh planned to unite Iraq with India, which they captured as a colony before. However, the events in the economic situation of the world changed the plans of the Engilish, especially their way of governing Iraq. So, instead of realizing what they promised the Arab, they decided to put the mandatary into practice.Through this thesis I have tried to examine the effects of mandatary upon the political and administrative life of Iraq which is on important contry of middle Esat, and the historical process the area went into, in terms of demography and politics.While preparing this thesis, I have turned to Arabic and Turkish sources and also to the theses of Yök.This thesis consists of an introduction, a development (three parts) and a conclusion parts. İn the introduction part I try to study the meaning of ?Iraq?in general, mention its geographic location and give general information about the eras throughout its history. I also try to meniton the relations between the Ottoman Empire and the Engilsh when Iraq was under the governance of the Ottoman Empire.In the first part, under the title of ?1920 Iraq Revolution? I mention:?The military activites of the Engilsh in Iraq during the years of World War I (1914-1918)?The resistance of the people of Iraq towards the invasion of the English?Foreign and domestic resans of the Iraq Revolution (1920)The Iraq RevolutionIn the second part, under the title of ?The Establisments of the Iraqi State Under England Control? I try to study:?Organization of the temporary Iraq government?Beginnings of the Kingdom Era?Foundation of the New Iraq State?Effects of the 1922 Iraq- England Treaty upon the Iraq Government?Organization of the Contistuional Assembly?Constituion of the Iraq Government (1925)İnthe third part, under the title of ?Musul Question? I try to study the issue looking through different perspectives also including the Treaty of LozanIn the conclucsion part finally, I evaluate the topics that I have mentioned throughout this thsis in general and I try to reach a final conclusion.Key Words:1.Mandate2.King Faysal3.Iraq4.Musul5.England
