Abstract (EN)

In this study, the sales of farmlands since 1980 of Adana were researched and also land use of farms and the change of the possesion relations were tried to be described and the connections between them were tried to be determined. The land registries of the farmlands in 14 villages selected in plain region of Adana were studied and also the change in farmland possession and usage styles and process of accumalation of farmlands were researched by looking at the farmland sales in the period between 1980 and 2013, within the frame of liberalisation policies in Turkey farming. To conclude, it was established that the ratio of farmland owners that rented farmlands and the numbers of rented farmlands increased and the usage in the style of partnership that took an important place in the past was abandoned. It came to light that the sales of farmlands increased in the basis of parcel and these parcels of land were mostly purchased by big farmland owners in the villages or one of the parcel heirs. It is said that the farmland was expanded by this way and this became a rising trend. It can be anticipated that local legislation and land legistry efforts that have accelerated in recent years will cause the crofters to sell out their farmlands. The measures of social policy that prevent crofters from this process should be taken.
