Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between the psychological well-being of mothers with children aged 2-6 and their child rearing attitudes. In addition, it is to examine the effects of various demographic variables (mother's age, education level, child's gender, child's age, number of children) on mothers' psychological well-being and child rearing attitudes. The study was conducted with the participation of 200 mothers with children aged 2-6 in Tarsus Toros Kindergarten and Tarsus Kindergarten in Tarsus, Mersin. The participants in the study were reached by quota sampling method. The relational screening model was used in the study. In the study, Demographic Information Form, Psychological Well-being Scale and Parental Attitude Scale were applied to the participants, where personal information was given. The data obtained within the scope of the study were analyzed with SPSS 27 statistical package program. Hypothesis tests were applied according to normal distribution between the scales and demographic variables, and correlation analysis was performed between the Psychological Well-being Scale and the Parental Attitude Scale. According to the results of the study, it has been revealed that mothers' attitudes towards their children may differ according to demographic characteristics, and these attitudes are significantly related to the psychological well-being levels of mothers. The democratic, authoritarian, overprotective and permissive attitudes adopted by mothers are important factors that shape the quality of the parenting process and the emotional and social development of children. The results of the study show that there is a negative relationship between overprotective and permissive attitudes and low levels of psychological well-being of mothers. The findings of the study show that parental attitudes show significant differences according to different demographic characteristics, and the relationships of these attitudes with the psychological well-being of mothers reveal important results.
